(Thought I'd try something new with the Waimea Valley thing, hehe. Here's the link.)
That was only the first part of day 3 though! The second part was going to the Dole Plantation ( :D ).
The Dole Plantation's the first plantation on Oahu, and was established by the "Pineapple King" (which is, by all means, a really awesome name)- James Dole. He was the creator of the Dole Food Company, and brought his stuff over when he bought a 64 acre farm on Oahu.
He made pineapples.
Because pineapples.
Over time, he acquired machinery (a cannery and packing plant) and began producing more pineapples, eventually bought some magazine advertisements, and voila! First ad campaign for consumers in the U.S.- dude was living!
So, that continued, and Pineapple Empire was established. He ended up buying the entire island of Lanai to grow pineapples, and eventually ended up producing over 75% of the world's pineapple crop (talk about DOMINATIONNN). Decades later, it's now the world's largest producer of fruits and vegetables, still including pineapples!
Pretty good for a guy who started off planting a few pineapples, huh?
We got Dole Whip! :D

Also, baby pineapple!

:D
Pineapple fun facts!
1) Pineapples take about 2 years to grow (they are grown underground).
2) They're planted upside down (this helps them to grow faster, for some... strange reason...)
3) The top of a pineapple can b re-planted and grown, to make a new pineapple! How nifty!
4) Pineapple contains the enzyme bromelain, which helps break down protein. This is great for digestion- so pop a few into your mouth when you're done eating!
T'was a fun day.
That's it, folks! Thanks for reading! :)
