So purely in the moment
Like a stark snap that brings you back into reality
Leaves falling from the tree
The sharp, clattering rustle
Dried cloth, coins, shattering on the sidewalk
Clattering crunch
The sudden realization of these leaves falling down,
that they could hit you in the face
a warning to our well-being snaps us back to the present
some life-force that moves through, flows/the stark present
The whole world is moving while you stay still
examining life, examining what life is
staying still and letting life happen around you
the trees whistle, leaves blow
I wrote this poem around 1:18 PM, on November 25th. I stood outside the Postal Office in Downtown San Jose and watched the leaves drift down through the wind, heard the leaves as they were swept along the sidewalk. It's a moment where you just look and observe what's going on to you.
You become starkly aware of your surroundings and you feel...absolution in the air. A definitive clearness, that life just is. It's pretty peaceful.
I also made the decision to write this down exactly as I did in my notebook. No editing. I've learned that I set up standards for myself when posting about my passions and I don't need to live up to anyone's standards except mine (even then! I just need to make something that's special to me and that I'm proud of).
So, truly, here's a piece of my heart.
I hope you enjoy and reflect upon the things that stop time for you.
